UK Plant Phenomics Conference 2025

The 2025 UK Plant Phenomics Conference will be single track, providing updates on the development of PhenomUK and EMPHASIS but predominantly comprising academic and industrial presentations and discussion.

As PhenomUK transitions from a UKRI scoping activity to an operational research infrastructure, 2025 sees UK Plant Phenomics begin its transformation from a project meeting to a national plant phenomics conference with topics like:

  • Cutting edge phenotyping tools, methods and facilities
  • Management and analysis of phenotyping data
  • Successful applications of and challenges facing phenotyping technologies

Conference themes include (but are not limited to)

  • Controlled Environment techniques
  • Canopy and Field phenotyping
  • The Hidden Half (roots and rhizosphere)
  • Biotic and Abiotic Stress
  • Improving Yield
  • AI-based phenotyping
  • 3D plant imaging

Attendance at UK Plant Phenomics 2025 is free, though delegates are required to fund their travel and accommodation. A conference dinner is also available on the evening of September 3rd at a cost of £25.

Academic Contributions

Extended abstracts are invited describing work to be presented orally or as posters. Abstracts should be no more than 2 pages long, and follow a regular paper structure including an introduction, a description of the work undertaken, results obtained and a conclusion. The extended abstracts of papers presented at the conference will be made available afterwards via the phenomuk.org website. Deadline 27th June.

ECR/Student Bursaries

To support those for whom this may be difficult, particularly early career researchers and research technical professionals, PhenomUK is providing a number of bursaries. These will cover costs up to the value to £250. Application deadline 25th July 2025.

Industrial Exhibition
Increased engagement with phenomics-related industries (e.g. seed and biotech companies, phenotyping equipment suppliers, sensor, automation and data analysis technology developers) is a goal of PhenomUK. We therefore invite industrial involvement, in the form of stands and displays, in UK Plant Phenomics 2025. Stands are free of charge and an opportunity will be provided to make a short elevator pitch to the conference delegates at the end of one of the plenary sessions. However, space is limited so these will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. To express interest in providing an industrial stand/exhibit please contact enquiries@phenomuk.org. Deadline July 1st.
