Israel: Functional Phenotyping of Plant Response to Abiotic Stress

Webinar

Phenotyping plant-environment interactions can be challenging, mainly due to the short-term plasticity of the plant in response to the dynamic environment. In a very recent publication, Menachem Moshelion provides an overview of the main challenges associated with phenotyping productivity-vulnerability trade-offs in crops’ responses to abiotic stress. He suggests some practical tools for coping with this issue, in order to achieve experimental standardization and uniform terminology. More specifically, he describes the functional and physiological phenotyping advantages offered by direct measurement of soil-plant-atmosphere water relations and how such measurements can be used for whole-plant performance-profile analysis.

This work was recently presented in our Phenomics Webinars series.
